Day 1: State College to... Uhhhh

-2:30am
Wakeup Call
After a night of 2.5 hours of sleep and some super last minute packing, my alarm might as well have been a punch in the face, but it was time for Spring Break, so regardless I was pumped and morale was super high, I mean, look how sweet this tent set up is...

-3am
Left my gnarly apartment (my roommate Tom was still awake watching TV at 3am for some reason??), and picked up Greg from his house, loaded up the Meat Machine and let it rip out of State College

-6:10am
After trucking thru 3 hours of Pennsylvania darkness, we’ve finally left the state and have officially entered West Virginia

-6:20am
West Virginia flew by, now in Ohio cruise control set at about 81 mph, police scanners are in full force, music volume at an all time high, we’re straight sending it. If you know me, you know exactly what song was playing (Big Bootie #12, Minute 20, Second 12)

-7:13am
First stop of the trip. Location Unknown: somewhere in Ohio for a bathroom break

-7:52am
First gas fill up of the day, Meat Machine literally hates mother earth, got a whopping 15.8mpg on this shot

-9:09am
French taps out from driving after 6 hours straight, Bres officially obtains his “Commercial Meat License”, a must have for any pilot of the Land Yacht / Meat Machine

-10:45am
Lunchtime: Subway, middle of nowhere

-11:34am
We’ve entered Indianapolis, and it might as well be monsoon season out here. Can’t see a single thing, windshield wipers on full tilt, driving at 40mph, might as well get out and sprint at this point

-12:49pm
Just crossed the state line into Illinois, and therefore have switched timezones, it’s really 11:49am now. Rain is finally over, starting to see some blue skies, lets ride

-2:05pm
Finally arrived in St. Louis. This place seems super underwhelming, and honestly the “Gateway Arch” might as well be a half McDonalds logo, because it’s so not a big deal now that I see it in person

-3:20pm
Rode in an elevator to the top of the arch, gotta admit that it’s pretty damn cool from up here. After 10min up top, not super cool, time to head down.

-4:30pm
CHANGE OF PLAN
Originally we were going to camp East of St. Louis (yes, drive backwards from the city towards where we just came from), but energy levels were super high, and we knew that a 15 hour car ride from St. Louis to Breckenridge Colorado in the morning would literally suck, therefore we pushed on. New plan is to stop in Kansas City, about 4 hours from here

-8:20pm
We’ve arrived at the Fairfield Inn, in the town of Independence Missouri, about 20 minutes outside of Kansas City. Room is sweet, and is way better than the original tent idea in downtown St. Louis

-8:30pm
Got some late night chick-fil-a across the street from the hotel. Definitely one of the funniest meals in a long time, we’re at the point of tired-ness where everything is hilarious and we should definitely go to sleep before something dumb happens

-8:50pm
In bed for the night, today we’ve been traveling for over 18 hours straight, covered over 1,100 miles, and have burned an entire container ship’s worth of gasoline driving the meat machine through high winds. Tomorrow we are headed to Breckenridge Colorado to see Aunt Krissy and Uncle Johnny, and we could not be more pumped
